I was born in Peru, grew up in Virginia, studied and worked in South Carolina, worked in Texas, and studied and worked in California, completed my doctoral studies in philosophy at Saint Louis University in Missouri, and now teach philosophy and direct the philosophy major at Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina.
My philosophical research focuses on epistemology (especially virtue epistemology and social epistemology), early modern philosophy, philosophy of religion, and ethics. I am particularly interested in trust and related issues is epistemology and ethics.
In my teaching I have become a generalist, teaching classes in the history of philosophy, ethics, logic, metaphysics, philosophy of science, and other areas.
I am married to Julie, and we have three children. We moved to Lexington, South Carolina, in July of 2017.
